Job Description
This role operates welding equipment to fabricate and assemble metal components according to blueprints and production specifications. The welder reads and interprets technical drawings, sets up and adjusts welding machines, and ensures all welds meet quality and safety standards while supporting continuous improvement across the production process.
Responsibilities
- Operate welding machines that feed wire to bond and fuse metal materials according to job specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and production documents to plan and execute welding work accurately.
- Determine the appropriate welding position, technique, and type of metal to be fused for each project.
- Select, set up, and adjust welding equipment, tools, and materials to meet job requirements.
- Perform welding and fabrication tasks to produce parts and assemblies that meet established standards and specifications.
- Use measuring tools such as tape measures to verify dimensions and ensure accuracy of fabricated components.
- Inspect completed welds and assemblies for quality, accuracy, and conformance to specifications, making adjustments as needed.
- Follow established quality management system (QMS) policies and procedures in all aspects of work.
- Support sustainable process outputs by following standardized work practices and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and operate machinery safely in accordance with company guidelines.
- Collaborate with production and fabrication team members to meet schedules and deliver exceptional customer satisfaction.
Essential Skills
- Minimum 3 years of welding experience.
- Proficiency in operating welding machines, including wire-feed welding equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
- Strong fabrication and production welding skills.
- Competent use of measuring tools, including tape measures, to verify dimensions.
- Ability to select appropriate welding settings, positions, and techniques based on materials and specifications.
- Understanding of welding standards and the ability to ensure weld quality and conformance.
- Ability to follow established quality management system (QMS) policies and procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Certificate or Associate degree in welding preferred.

Work Environment
The facility is a newly expanded, modern, and climate-controlled manufacturing environment built in early 2019. It is open, spacious, and designed to avoid tight or cramped work areas, providing plenty of room to work safely and efficiently. The building is very clean, well-maintained, and equipped with locker bays where each employee receives an assigned locker for personal belongings. A brand-new kitchen and market area are available for purchasing snacks and lunch items, along with vending machines for additional options. The role operates on 1st shift, typically from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday work as needed. Standard welding and fabrication equipment, including welding machines and measuring tools, are used daily in this production-focused environment

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hobart, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr.
