Job DescriptionWe are looking for a dependable Bookkeeper to join a growing transportation and logistics organization in Jacksonville, Florida. This contract opportunity with permanent potential is well suited for someone who enjoys a hands-on accounting role, can stay organized in a high-activity setting, and takes pride in keeping financial records accurate and current. The position supports core daily accounting functions while partnering with leadership to improve visibility into spending, cash flow, and overall financial operations.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee day-to-day accounts payable and accounts receivable activities to keep billing and collections on track.
• Prepare customer invoices, apply incoming payments, and reconcile vendor accounts to resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Complete bank and credit card reconciliations regularly to maintain accurate financial reporting.
• Support payroll administration and track employee reimbursements and business-related expenses.
• Record financial transactions accurately, maintain general ledger details, and organize supporting documentation.
• Monitor fuel usage, repair costs, and other operating expenses tied to transportation activities.
• Assist with month-end close tasks and help produce routine financial reports for management review.
• Partner with company leadership on budgeting efforts, cash flow tracking, and short-range financial planning.
• Review accounting records for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with established procedures.• At least 3 years of bookkeeping or accounting support experience.
• Practical experience with QuickBooks or comparable accounting platforms.
• Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliation processes.
• Ability to manage a high volume of transactions while balancing shifting priorities.
• Experience assisting with payroll processing and expense tracking.
• Strong organizational skills with close attention to detail and accuracy.
• Clear communication skills for interacting with vendors, customers, and internal stakeholders.
• Background in transportation, trucking, logistics, construction, or another service-driven industry is preferred.
