Job Description

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is a newly established role responsible for leading the planning, development, and optimization of manufacturing processes within KIRCHHOFF Automotive’s Manchester facility. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, vendors, and customers to ensure manufacturing excellence while adhering to corporate standards, lean principles, and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manufacturing Processes:
  • Facilitate the planning, coordination, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including job instructions, standard operation sheets, and visual aids.
  • Support corporate teams in new product and process development, including equipment design and installation.
  • Equipment Development and Maintenance:
  • Manage equipment development phases such as quotation, kick-off, changes, approval, and installation.
  • Conduct trial runs for new equipment, ensuring alignment with cost, quality, reliability, and productivity standards.
  • Coordinate engineering changes and equipment modifications to meet operational needs.
  • Project Leadership:
  • Oversee new program launches from inception to completion, ensuring seamless execution.
  • Compile documentation and prepare purchase requisitions for equipment and materials.
  • Collaborate with vendors to ensure all required documentation, including schematics and manuals, is obtained and distributed.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Lead initiatives in lean manufacturing, Advanced Quality Planning (AQP), and SMED to enhance efficiency.
  • Conduct root cause analyses to resolve machine downtime issues and recommend solutions.
  • Standardize manufacturing processes across facilities, ensuring best practices are shared and implemented.
  • Mentorship and Training:
  • Support and mentor team members, fostering technical expertise within the engineering group.
  • Organize and conduct training programs on equipment, safety, and operational excellence.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local laws, as well as company safety standards.
  • Promote a safe and clean working environment aligned with 5S principles.
  • Customer and Supplier Collaboration:
  • Act as a liaison with vendors and customers to meet manufacturing and equipment requirements.
  • Conduct supplier site visits and manage supplier relationships.
