Job Description

This role supports custom rebuild and repair projects for industrial equipment, with a strong focus on MIG and TIG welding, fabrication, and component modification to restore or improve equipment performance. You will work primarily in a shop environment, using your blueprint reading skills and fabrication expertise to complete non-repetitive, project-based work while contributing independently to a smaller, hands-on team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG and TIG welding on fabricated metal parts for custom rebuild and repair projects.
  • Fabricate and rebuild components for industrial machinery to restore or enhance performance.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and fabrication layouts to ensure accurate builds.
  • Cut, fit, and assemble metal parts according to specifications using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Repair worn or damaged components as part of equipment rebuild processes.
  • Maintain high quality standards and ensure proper weld integrity on all completed work.
  • Perform fit-up, tacking, and weld preparation to support accurate and efficient fabrication.
  • Inspect welds and fabricated components for quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications.
  • Use shop tools such as plasma cutters, torches, grinders, and saws safely and effectively.
  • Assist with general shop duties and fabrication projects as needed to support overall workflow.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in MIG welding in a production or custom fabrication environment.
  • Proficiency in TIG welding, with experience in aluminum and stainless steel preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication layouts accurately.
  • Hands-on experience fabricating metal components, including cutting, fitting, and grinding.
  • Strong fabrication skills working with metal parts and assemblies.
  • Ability to maintain weld quality and integrity in a variety of applications.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience repairing or rebuilding industrial equipment.
  • Ability to work with carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum materials.
  • Fit-up, tacking, and weld preparation experience.
  • Experience using shop tools such as plasma cutters, torches, grinders, and saws.
  • Mechanical aptitude, particularly in a rebuild and repair environment.
  • Ability to inspect welds and fabricated components for quality and accuracy.

Why Work Here?

You will work on custom, non-repetitive fabrication projects that are more engaging than typical production welding, giving you the opportunity to tackle unique rebuilds and specialized equipment work. The smaller team environment allows you to have a direct, hands-on impact on each project while benefiting from a stable, established shop with consistent work. This setting offers a mix of variety, stability, and the chance to continually develop your technical skills.

Work Environment

This position is based in a machine shop and fabrication environment focused on custom rebuild and repair work rather than repetitive production. You will perform hands-on, project-based tasks using welding equipment, metal fabrication tools, and various machinery. The work involves regular exposure to welding processes, cutting tools, grinders, and other shop equipment in a traditional industrial shop setting. The schedule follows a first shift, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with potential overtime depending on workload.
