Description:

  • The Front Office Clerk serves as the first point of contact for students, parents, staff, and visitors. This role involves handling a variety of administrative and clerical tasks to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the school office. The ideal candidate is professional, organized, and enjoys working in a fast-paced, student-centered environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Greet and assist students, parents, staff, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner

  • Answer and direct phone calls; take and relay messages accurately

  • Maintain student attendance records and enter data into the school information system

  • Prepare and distribute correspondence, newsletters, and daily announcements

  • Assist with student check-ins and check-outs; maintain visitor log and ensure proper ID verification

  • Provide clerical support to administrators and teaching staff (e.g., copying, filing, mailing)

  • Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information

  • Assist with first aid and contact parents in case of student illness or injury

  • Order, receive, and inventory office supplies

  • Assist with scheduling and coordinating meetings and events

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Office Manager

QUALIFICATIONS  

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Job related experience is required.

Knowledge and Skills

  •  Considerable knowledge of modern office practices and procedures with specific reference to records management, school curriculum, and course credit system; considerable knowledge of business English, vocabulary, spelling, and arithmetic.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, administrators and instructional staff, and other school employees, and the central office staff.
  • Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: concepts of grammar and punctuation; stages of child development and learning styles; and age appropriate activities; and working with diverse youth
  • Skill in the proficient operation of a computer terminal to operate a data system, skill in operating word-processing equipment. Good human relations skills. 
  • Specific ability to organize and manage; communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; setting priorities; working as part of a team; and working with constant interruptions.; being attentive to detail; displaying tact and courtesy; teach a sport, a form of art, a specific academic area, technology, or have experience in social development and the ability to speak, read and write English and Spanish is preferred.

Physical Requirements: Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move

Working Requirements: The usual job functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 50% sitting, 25% walking, and 25% standing. The job is performed under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness and in a clean atmosphere.
