Hours: Monday-Thursday 5:00am-3:30pm


Job Summary: This position is accountable for performing press brake operations and activities. Individuals demonstrate core competencies required throughout the organization.  These competencies include safety, quality, production, and behavior.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Level 1

  • Operate Press Brake safely when lead or others have setup and validated quality requirements for a specific part
  • Consistently maintain a neat and orderly work area.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (If weighs more, then a helper is required.)
  • Perform EPICOR transactions logging in and out of jobs and recording quantity complete, scrapped.
  • Bend parts up to 144 inches in length.
  • Level 2 (Includes Level 1 Requirements) Perform simple setups on Press Brake utilizing part drawings and Bend Simulations.
  1. Set up/Observe ¼ inch rule. If not possible engage Lead or VSM prior to operating.
  • Forklift Certified
  • Reads and follow Shop Loads
  • Perform inspections using precision measuring and gauging equipment.
  • Perform and document all Job/Routing/Quality procedures as directed.
  • Perform material handling functions including packaging.
  • Assemble, Load and Maintain Tooling, Fixtures, Jigs, Etc.
  • Perform EPICOR transactions moving material from/to appropriate locations.

Level 3 (Includes Level 1,2, and 3 Requirements)

  • Suggest ideas to improve job processes and inform VSM of suggestions.
  • Provides adequate feedback to department manager when the job is not running within 15% of standard.
  • Provides adequate feedback to Department Managers/Engineering by using M.E.C.R forms and notes on the routing.
  • Working knowledge of punch and die configurations, tip radius and the effect on part geometry
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (If weighs more, then a helper is required.)
  • Bend parts up to 144 inches in length.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and memos; basic math skills, working knowledge of computer systems

Lead (Includes Level 1,2, and 3 Requirements)

  • Capable of training for complex and simple setups
  • Capable of training EPICOR transactions
  • Capable of training Safety and Quality Requirements

Cincinnati Press Brakes

(PROFORM, AUTOFORM, & MAXFORM – 90, 135, & 230 ton models.)

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • CNC experience (Required for L3 and lead)

Skills and/or Experience:

  • Press Brake experience desirable for L1, Required for all other levels
  • Advanced blueprint reading.
  • Advanced sheet metal inspection experience
  • Working knowledge of controls for Cincinnati Press Brakes (Windows based)
  • Ability to calculate required tonnages and bend allowances
  • Ability to select proper tooling required to form a part (Acute, Gooseneck, Offset, etc.)
  • Ability to work on variety of material types and thicknesses
  • Setup experience specific to level, department, or equipment
  • Sheet Metal Layout experience (Tangent Correction, Basic Bend Allowance Etc.) Level 2 and up only
  • Understanding of Material Properties including Flatness, Surface Grades, Types, Gauge etc. Level 2 and up only

Long Brakes deals with the larger parts, so Quality is very important. Long Brakes also deals with some of our more active and larger customers, so orders tend to fill up quickly. Consistency will be a key factor in getting these parts shipped on time. Dealing with these larger parts comes with being Safe and knowing your own limitations on these larger parts.
