Job DescriptionJob Opportunity: Full-time Neuropathologist
Our organization is currently in search of a dedicated Full-time Neuropathologist. The primary responsibilities include acting as the neuropathologist for the National PTSD Brain Bank, which encompasses managing and conducting neuropathological evaluations, overseeing tissue distribution, and handling data management tasks. Additionally, the role involves providing support for neuropathological assessments related to other brain banks affiliated with the VA and Boston University, along with fulfilling clinical service duties within the surgical neuropathology department at our healthcare facility.
The selected candidate will also be expected to participate in academic endeavors, which may involve both clinical and basic research (whether initiated independently or in collaboration), as well as instructing medical students, residents, fellows, and colleagues from non-Pathology disciplines. The position allocates up to 60% of time to the PTSD Brain Bank, up to 20% for other clinical responsibilities, and a minimum of 20% for independent research activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the neuropathologist for the National PTSD Brain Bank.
- Conduct neuropathological evaluations and manage tissue distribution.
- Assist with neuropathological workups for additional brain banks.
- Fulfill clinical service obligations in surgical neuropathology.
- Engage in academic activities, including research and teaching.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Proficiency in both written and spoken English is essential.
- A Doctor of Medicine degree or an equivalent qualification from an accredited institution recognized by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
- Possession of a current, unrestricted medical or surgical license in any U.S. State, Territory, or the District of Columbia.
- Completion of residency training in an accredited core specialty program, leading to eligibility for board certification.
- Board Certification in Anatomic Pathology or Neuropathology is required.
Preferred Experience
- Specialization in Anatomic Pathology and experience in Neuropathology.
