An innovative engineering and automation-focused organization is seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer to support the design and development of advanced custom machinery, automation systems, and precision-engineered equipment. This role is based in Beverly Hills, Michigan, and requires strong proficiency in SolidWorks, Siemens NX, and CATIA to create high-quality mechanical designs for manufacturing and assembly.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in machine design, automated systems, and complex mechanical assemblies, with a strong understanding of industrial applications and manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings using SolidWorks, NX, and CATIA
  • Design and detail custom automation equipment, tooling, and mechanical assemblies
  • Generate and maintain Bill of Materials (BOMs) and manage engineering change orders (ECOs)
  • Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) to ensure manufacturability and precision
  • Conduct tolerance stack-up analysis and support design validation
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineering, controls engineering, and project management teams
  • Support prototype builds, equipment commissioning, and system troubleshooting
  • Ensure designs align with DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly) principles
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance performance and reduce costs

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field
  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, machine design, or automation systems design
  • Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks, Siemens NX, and/or CATIA
  • Strong knowledge of industrial equipment design, pneumatic systems, and mechanical components
  • Experience with precision machining, fabrication drawings, and assembly documentation
  • Familiarity with PLM systems and design documentation control
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and cross-functional communication skills

This role is ideal for a Mechanical Designer who thrives in a fast-paced industrial automation or custom equipment manufacturing environment and enjoys translating engineering concepts into robust, real-world mechanical solutions.
