We are seeking skilled, reliable, and experienced Direct Care Workers to join our team.
Job Summary
The Direct Care Worker provides hands-on support, supervision, and compassionate care to adult residents with mental health diagnoses inside a licensed AFC home. This role ensures resident safety, promotes independence, and follows all care plans and documentation requirements.
Key Responsibilities

Assist residents with daily living activities (ADLs): bathing, hygiene, grooming, toileting, dressing, and mobility

Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding when needed

Perform housekeeping tasks including laundry, making beds, washing dishes, and overall home cleanliness

Provide behavioral support, emotional encouragement, and redirection in alignment with mental health treatment plans

Document all care provided, behaviors observed, medication administration, and significant events accurately and timely

Administer medications per company policy and maintain proper medication logs

Support residents with mobility (e.g., transfers, navigating stairs, moving throughout the home)

Accompany residents to appointments, supervised outings, or community activities

Monitor and report changes in mood, behavior, or physical health immediately

Build positive rapport with residents while helping them develop life skills

Engage residents in conversation, meaningful activities, and companionship

Maintain confidentiality and adhere to licensing rules and company policies

Attend all required trainings, staff meetings, and continuing education sessions

Perform additional duties assigned to support the safety and wellbeing of residents
Minimum Requirements
-
Past experience working with individuals with mental health diagnoses (REQUIRED)

Experience completing documentation, charting, or progress notes (REQUIRED)

CPR & First Aid Certification REQUIRED on Day 1 (no exceptions)

High school diploma or GED
-
Valid driver’s license & reliable transportation

Ability to pass a background check and drug screen

Strong communication, patience, and problem-solving skills

Willingness to adhere to a structured training schedule
Preferred Qualifications
-
1–5+ years working in AFC, group homes, or mental health settings
-
Direct Care Worker (DCW) training
-
Medication administration training
