Compensation: $22.75/Hourly

The Community Relations Coordinator supports Food Bank of the Rockies by fostering community engagement, volunteerism, and philanthropic growth in Western Colorado. This role builds and maintains relationships with volunteers, partners, and supporters, coordinates with the Development team, and provides administrative support at the Western Slope Etkin Family Distribution Center. The position collaborates across teams to implement strategies that strengthen community and volunteer networks, driving financial and in-kind support.

The mission of Food Bank of the Rockies is to ignite the power of community to nourish people facing hunger. We provide food and necessities to people in need through signature programs and by teaming up with hundreds of Hunger Relief Partners to serve communities across Colorado and Wyoming. Primary Responsibilities:
Administrative:
- Coordinate postage machine maintenance and service requests
- Maintain inventory and place supply orders for stationery, development and marketing materials and maintain accurate, up-to-date inventory and organization of supplies
- Monitor expenses per the budget and uphold accurate record-keeping practices
- Design monthly slide deck for lobby and warehouse
- Prepare office space for onboarding staff to include cleaning desk and IT set-up
- Support new employees through the intake process by coordinating with the People & Culture team in Denver; responsibilities include ordering business cards, issuing key FOBs, providing swag, and preparing onboarding materials
- Coordinate staff meals, celebrations, and functions
- Coordinate the purchase and delivery of misc. staff gifts, i.e., cards for major life events
- Process donations and produce donation reports in collaboration with the Finance and Development Data Systems teams
- Create, refine, and implement standard operating procedures to enhance team efficiency
- Take notes for team meetings
- Provide back-up coverage for front desk when other staff or volunteer is unavailable
- Maintains confidentiality of sensitive and privileged [employee/donor/volunteer/neighbor] information and protects organization operations
Volunteer Coordination:
- Maintain Food Bank of the Rockies’ volunteer management program including volunteer records, schedules, files, data, and monthly reporting requirements
- Ensure a positive volunteer experience by:
- Create excellent first impressions of Food Bank of the Rockies by welcoming volunteers
- Provide timely pre- and post-shift communications to volunteers outlining policies, expectations, stewardship, and soliciting feedback about the volunteer experience
- Coordinate the flow of incoming volunteers with internal departments for daily assignments
- Manage incoming calls, scheduling, and confirming individuals and groups alongside the Corporate and Events Specialist
- Onboard new volunteers by providing tours and training information
- Participate in the overall planning and execution of the Western Slope Development Strategy regarding volunteers, including recruitment and retention efforts
- Monitor and troubleshoot issues that arise with volunteers, strategizing to reduce or eliminate future issues
- Plan and execute volunteer appreciation events
Development and Community Engagement:
- Support the Development Team with creating, researching, and updating proposals, donor bios, and briefs ahead of donor visits
- Coordinate with the Development team and volunteers, ensure timely execution of donor stewardship
- Participate in ongoing Moves Management as it pertains to in-kind/monetary donors and volunteers
- Coordinate and provide collateral for Food Bank of the Rockies social media and other marketing or development needs.
- Stewardship and cultivation for first-time donors
- Identify and coordinate opportunities to table community events including organizing staff, travel, materials, and collateral for distribution in our communities
- Coordinate tours, group visits, and field trips as requested by the community
- Manage and expand Food Bank of the Rockies virtual and in-person physical food drive programs by:
- Act as a resource and resident expert on the food drive peer-to-peer platform
- Assist donors and supporters in setting up and executing successful campaigns using our online system as well as supplying support materials and logistical planning
- Regular communication and coordination with Operations and Transportation teams regarding the logistics of physical food drives
- Develop, evaluate, and maintain a Food Drive policy and resource manual in conjunction with the Denver Community Engagement Team
- Generate monthly activity reports to track virtual and physical food drive activities

Required Qualifications:
- High school diplomas or equivalent required, Associate degree preferred, Bachelor’s degree in a related field a plus
- 1- 3 years or more of fundraising and/or event planning experience preferred with an emphasis on events, volunteer coordination, promotions, and cause-marketing in a non-profit setting
- Experience in Raiser’s Edge CRM or similar CRM is preferred and knowledge and experience in peer-to-peer platform Classy highly desired
- Experience in donor research or writing proposals a plus
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, Outlook
- Must possess a valid driver’s license due to travel
Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Work schedules may vary each week and consist of weekdays, evenings, and Saturdays with limited flexibility to work remotely. Travel 5% or more working in the office or off-site. Daily schedules may vary and should maintain Food Bank of the Rockies core hours between 8am – 4pm.
