Position Summary:

The W.I.S.E. Program Counselor supports the 'Wellness, Interventions, Support, and Education' (W.I.S.E.) initiative within assigned Holyoke schools, working with students ages 8–13. This role focuses on empowering youth and their families with the confidence, skills, and resources needed to make positive choices and prevent substance misuse. The Counselor provides educational programming, mentoring, and support to promote emotional well-being and academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • This position will be a 50/50 split that allows 20 hours working as a clinician and 20 hours as clinical supervisor overseeing a small team of case managers.
  • Ensure and provide quality and effective outpatient care for clients and parent/guardian in a target population that has been identified as at risk for possible substance use disorder.
  • Work on early intervention by providing education, assisting clients with identifying and utilizing supports, treatment plans, providing assessments, coordinating clinical care, and determining level of care.
  • Assume a caseload and perform an array of counseling services independently (without direct supervision).
  • Co-direct case managers to ensure services are appropriate and timely and documentation is accurate.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Master's Degree in Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, or other counseling fields eligible for state licensure.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with youth/adolescents and/or populations experiencing substance misuse, previous experience in assessment and diagnosis and individual/group therapy.
  • Telephone, computer terminal and printer; photocopier; fax machine; pager

Preferred:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.

Summary of Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $56,000 - $66,000 /Year

Based on years of experience, level of education, specialty and licensure/certifications. Additional Compensation for advanced education for qualifying positions.
