Minimum 1+ years Paraprofessional or Special Education experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Support a students educational journey as a paraprofessional in a dynamic elementary school setting located in Lees Summit, Missouri. This contract position runs from early April through late May, offering a meaningful role assisting one student in a 1:1 capacity at an elementary school. Candidates should be prepared to work weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3:55 p.m., providing attentive and compassionate support throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized support to a student exhibiting aggressive behaviors, ensuring safety and positive engagement
- Assist with daily tasks, including toileting support as needed, demonstrating sensitivity and professionalism
- Apply behavior management techniques effectively, leveraging MANDT or CPI training to de-escalate challenging moments
- Collaborate with special education staff to implement tailored educational and behavioral strategies
- Maintain clear communication regarding student progress and classroom needs
Qualifications & Experience:
- Active paraprofessional certification (DESE), or equivalent, preferred
- Experience working with children who exhibit challenging behaviors, including aggression
- MANDT or CPI training required or preferred to ensure a safe and supportive environment
- Comfort providing personal care supports such as toileting assistance
- Strong interpersonal skills to engage positively with the student, staff, and families
- Ability to pass required background checks, drug screening, and complete district-specific clearance processes promptly
