Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years MS RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Provide specialized nursing care for neuro and neuro-surgical patients during night shifts in a supportive teaching hospital environment. This 13-week contract opportunity requires expertise in neuro nursing with hands-on experience in trauma level II settings and proficiency in EPIC charting.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Current active compact RN license
- American Heart Association BLS and NIHSS certifications
- Minimum two years of strong neuro nursing experience, including one travel assignment in a trauma level II facility
- Recent EPIC electronic medical record experience (checkoff class required)
- Proficient in NIHSS, dysphagia screening, neuro assessments, tele monitoring, and strict intake/output documentation
- Skilled in managing heparin infusions, blood product administration, venipuncture, NG tubes, and drain management
- Strong critical thinking and assessment abilities essential
Location:Situated in Newburgh, Indiana, this facility is part of a dynamic healthcare system serving neuro and neurosurgical patients. The hospital offers collaborative support from an experienced leadership team and a welcoming nursing staff. The location is conveniently near additional campuses, allowing for flexible float assignments within the local area.
Responsibilities:
- Provide care for neuro and neuro-surgical patients including stroke, elective spine surgeries, post-op craniotomies, and cerebral angiograms
- Float within skillset across two nearby campuses with appropriate notice
- Work 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM with no blocked schedule requests
- Participate in weekend and holiday rotations, averaging three weekends every six weeks
- Adhere to unit policies and maintain professional appearance in navy blue scrubs without competing logos
- Potential precepting of students and new hires in a teaching hospital setting
Additional Details:
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week, 48 hours available upon request; overtime applies beyond 52 hours for 48-hour contracts
- Strict call-in policy with termination after three occurrences
- COVID-19 vaccination currently not required (subject to change)
- Contract to hire opportunity with bi-weekly orientation starting April 6
- No local candidates within 40 miles due to travel requirement
