Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele Float Pool position at a Level 1 Trauma, teaching hospital in Macon, GA, requiring at least 2 years of Med/Tele experience.
Details
- Float pool position covering all Med/Surg Telemetry units within the hospital
- Each Med/Surg unit contains 20–36 beds
- Inpatient Med/Surg and Telemetry patient population
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4–6
- 12-hour night shifts, 7P–7A, 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation includes 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
- No on-call requirements
- EMR: Epic (experience required)
- IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Pyxis; monitors: Philips; VS3 vital sign monitors and Nova Glucose Stat Strips also in use
- Common drips include insulin, heparin, and cardiac drips titrated to heart rate
Requirements
- Active GA or Compact RN license required
- BLS required; ACLS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience required
- Proficiency in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, and glucometer use required
- Proficiency in cardiac drips, including insulin drips, heparin drips, and drips titrated to HR, required
- Must provide last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- EKG competency exam must be passed during onboarding
Additional Information
- Level 1 Trauma designated, academic teaching hospital with 637 licensed beds, also designated as a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center
- Support staff includes CNAs, unit secretaries (on-unit 7A–11P, house-wide after), charge nurses, discharge nurses, a resource team, a PICC team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
- Orientation consists of 1 day of general orientation with educational modules followed by 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers will work 75% of assigned holidays
- RN scrub color is navy blue
- Free parking is available around campus
- Former permanent employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
- Local candidates are accepted — no radius rule applies, and the same rate applies to local travelers
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Med/Surg certification is a plus
