Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Orientation and Mobility or Special Education, Certification as a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS), and 1+ years Orientation and Mobility Specialist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A contract opportunity is available for skilled Orientation and Mobility Specialists to support the upcoming 2026-2027 school year in the Denver area. The position is onsite within a school district serving diverse student populations, with assignments potentially varying between multiple campuses. Candidates should expect a flexible workload, with possible full-time or part-time options and caseloads including school-age children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized orientation and mobility instruction to students with visual impairments to increase independence and safety.
  • Develop individualized plans based on students' needs and collaborate with educators, families, and related service providers.
  • Assist with assessments related to orientation and mobility skills and adapt instructional strategies accordingly.
  • Document student progress and maintain compliance with district policies and licensing requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Active Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Certification with a Special Service License for School Orientation and Mobility Specialist endorsement.
  • Successful completion of background checks and fingerprinting in compliance with district requirements.
  • Experience working with school-age children who have visual impairments is preferred.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with school staff and families.

Location:

  • Positions are onsite within the Denver metropolitan area, with locations and assignments to be finalized pending district staffing decisions.
