Location: Doral, FL

Hephaestus Pharmaceuticalsis an early stage Compounding Pharmacy dedicated to providing exceptional service and care to our customers. We are seeking a motivated and experienced Director of Pharmacy Operations to join our team and play a key role in building and optimizing our operation.

Please note: This is an in person on-site position located in Doral, FL

Position Overview:

The Director of Pharmacy Operations is responsible for all budgetary, people development, operations and regulatory objectives. The Director of Pharmacy Operations will play a critical leadership role in all aspects of pharmacy operations including managing and leading team managers to ensure performance goals are met. The general manager is responsible for coaching and mentoring team leadership, establishing a positive work culture, and building talent within the pharmacy. The ideal candidate has deep experience in operations and pharmacy with the ability to establish a culture of operations excellence, regulatory and safety compliance, while leading a team to meet business goals in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee day-to-day operations of the pharmacy, including production planning and execution, safety and quality workflows, and customer service.

  • Partner with the Pharmacist In Charge (PIC) to build a continuous quality improvement program and maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Drives the creation of Lean initiatives to meet and exceed pharmacy business plans.
  • Responsible for overall Safety of staff, Quality of product, and performance of the team. Protects and improves the patient experience.
  • Partners and leads support staff (HR, Finance, Safety. IT) to ensure support resources are appropriately applied to initiative to drive a positive employee culture.
  • Develops and implements standardized policies, procedures, and systems to ensure efficient pharmacy operations.

  • Collaborate with the CEO to set and execute long-term strategies for the pharmacy's growth and success.
  • Identify and address opportunities for business development, partnerships, and innovation in the compounding space.
  • Build and train a team of pharmacists, technicians, and administrative staff.
  • Foster a culture grounded in safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Set expectations and direction for facility leadership, coaches teams in establishing best practices for operations and improvement plans.
  • Build a culture of continuous improvement, establish and execute rate improvement strategies to drive cost reduction.
  • Manage budgets, forecasts, and financial models to ensure profitability and financial discipline.
  • Create and analyze performance metrics, implement corrective actions to optimize operational margins.
  • Lead cost-reduction and rate-improvement strategies through Lean and other operational efficiency programs.
  • Ensure all pharmacy practices adhere to the highest standards of safety, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Implement and oversee quality assurance systems to monitor the production accuracy, quality, and compliant dispensing of compounded medications.
  • Stay informed of changes in regulations at federal, state, and local level affecting pharmacy operations and ensure timely compliance.
  • Drive continuous quality improvements that safeguard patient outcomes and uphold brand trust.
  • Manage customer orders to define SLA targets, ensuring reliability and timely service.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with healthcare providers, customers, and industry partners.
  • Ensure a high level of customer service, addressing any issues related to orders, complaints, or inquiries.
  • Lead patient-experience initiatives to strengthen satisfaction and service.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in healthcare operations.
  • Bachelor's Degree or Doctorate in Pharmacy
  • An active pharmacy license (preferred)
  • Experience in a cGMP and pharmacy compounding environment (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy compliance regulations (FDA, USP, DEA).
  • Proven experience in operational leadership, including P&L management, lean techniques, strategic planning, and team leadership.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with a track record of leading successful operational improvements.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a startup environment, with a hands-on approach and a passion for building new ventures.

Salary Range: 160k-182k

This salary represents Hephaestus Pharmaceutical's good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation for this role at the time of posting, and Hephaestus Pharmaceuticals may ultimately pay more or less than the posted salary. The final salary for this position will be determined by Hephaestus Pharmaceuticals sole discretion, consistent with applicable law, and based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the employee's work experience, skills, and qualifications for the role, as well as the needs of Hephaestus Pharmaceuticals business and other operational considerations.
