Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) degree, active Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license, and 1+ years Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A contract opportunity is available for a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to support elementary school students in Virginia Beach, VA. This position focuses on providing occupational therapy services within a school setting during the current school year (CSY).
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in implementing occupational therapy plans designed by licensed occupational therapists
- Supporting elementary students in developing fine motor, sensory processing, and daily living skills
- Collaborating with teachers, parents, and school staff to ensure therapeutic goals align with educational objectives
- Documenting student progress and maintaining compliance with school and therapy regulations
- Participating in team meetings and contributing to individualized education programs (IEPs)
Qualifications and desired experience:
- Certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
- Experience providing occupational therapy services in a school or educational environment is preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working effectively with children and school personnel
- Familiarity with school-based therapy documentation and IEP processes
