Summary Description

Responsible for the loan review function. Reviews individual loan files and evaluates all facets of the loan as well as providing management with written documentation regarding the soundness of the loan, potential for loss, adequacy of collateral and compliance. Ensures that loan, credit, collection and recovery functions meet required standards. Monitors and reports on quality-related aspects of loan portfolio.


Essential Functions

  • Establishes and abides by a schedule to ensure the initial review and follow-up reviews for all loans
  • In conjunction with the credit analysis department, evaluates borrowers’ financial statements, noting changes in financial position and ability to repay
  • Reviews collateral documentation in order to ensure adequacy of collateral, proper filing of security interests, etc
  • Reviews loan documentation for compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and written Bank policy
  • Tests the risks rating codes assigned by the loan officers to ensure that they accurately reflect the ultimate collectability of the loans
  • Prepares reports regarding specifics of loans reviewed, movement in assigned ratings, adequacy of loan loss reserve allocation, and need for restriction


Position Requirements

  • B.A. or B.S. in related field
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of credit experience
  • CLBB or CPA preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of current bank lending principals, policies and practices
  • Demonstrated computer experience. Experience with Loan Review software preferred
  • Work is generally performed indoors in environmentally controlled conditions
  • Typically the employee may sit to perform the work. However, there may be some standing, walking, bending and carrying of light items in the course of the work

  • Lending Compliance experience/knowledge preferred regarding the following:
    • Truth In Lending Act (TILA)
    • Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA)
    • Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA)
    • Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA)
    • Flood Disaster Protection Act (FDPA)
    • Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA)
    • Secure & Fair Enforcement of Mortgage Licensing Act (SAFE)
    • Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA)
