Your Role: Middle School History Teacher

As a Middle School History Teacher, you will be part of a dynamic team that empowers students to become self-guided learners. You will develop subject mastery while navigating the socio-emotional changes that middle school students experience. Your history classes will not only educate but also empower students' voices, preparing them to be informed global citizens through:

• Engaging Instruction: Facilitate student-led discussions, encouraging debate and critical thinking.
• Data-Driven Analysis: Collaborate with your principal and instructional coach to enhance student learning through data insights.
• Positive School Culture: Build strong relationships with students and families, fostering a supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Instruction

• Facilitate engaging discussions on historical topics, guiding students through open-ended questions and peer debates.
• Teach an inclusive curriculum that highlights diverse histories, empowering students to express evidence-based opinions.
• Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment where every student feels valued.

2. Data Analysis

• Meet weekly to analyze student work and adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
• Implement strategies to differentiate instruction for all learners.

3. School Culture

• Build positive relationships with students, ensuring they feel seen and heard.
• Engage in professional development and mentorship to continuously improve your teaching practice.
• Collaborate with your grade-level team to set academic goals and share instructional strategies.

Qualifications

• A commitment to supporting students’ social-emotional and academic growth.
• A passion for collaboration with internal and external partners for the benefit of students.
• A self-directed learner who actively seeks and implements feedback.
• Required Experience:
  • 1-2 years of experience impacting K-12 students in urban settings preferred.
  • Academic expertise in Education, History, Geography, Political Science, or related fields.
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required. Teacher certification is not mandatory for consideration, but candidates must meet NJ state certification eligibility requirements.

Compensation

The salary for this role ranges from $56,000 to $80,000, based on factors such as relevant teaching experience and educational qualifications. Candidates without full-time teaching experience will likely start at $56,000.
