- Inspect and verify all rigging equipment (slings, shackles, hooks, chains, spreader bars, etc.) prior to use.
- Select appropriate rigging gear based on load weight, center of gravity, and lift configuration.
- Properly attach loads to crane hooks using approved rigging techniques.
- Ensure load stability and balance before and during lifting operations.
- Serve as a signal person when required and maintain clear communication with the crane operator.
- Review lift plans and understand load charts and crane capacities.
- Identify and mitigate hazards associated with lifting operations.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, ANSI, and company safety standards.
- Maintain clean and organized rigging equipment and storage areas.
- Participate in daily job safety analyses (JSA) and pre-lift meetings.
- Stop work if unsafe conditions are observed.
Requirements:
- Current Certified Rigger certification (NCCCO or equivalent recognized credential).
- Valid Signal Person certification (preferred or required depending on project).
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in crane rigging operations.
- Strong understanding of load calculations, sling angles, and rigging capacities.
- Knowledge of OSHA 1926 Subpart CC regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret lift plans and engineered drawings.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
