What You'll Do:

Assist dentists with a variety of dental procedures and patient care activities
Prepare patients and treatment rooms for dental procedures
Take and adjust periapical and panoramic X-rays as requested by the provider
Take and record vital signs and assist with patient charting in the electronic dental record (EDR)
Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment according to infection control guidelines
Properly clean, disinfect, and restock treatment rooms and supplies
Pour and trim dental casts and assist with lab cases
Send and receive lab cases and conduct referral follow-ups
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly equipment maintenance and sterilization logs
Conduct daily spore tests and maintain sterilization records
Monitor supplies and report equipment malfunctions to supervisors
Prepare and submit daily dental clinic reports
Communicate with supervisors and dental access specialists regarding referrals, appointments, and scheduling needs
Follow infection control policies and properly dispose of biohazard waste
Complete required training and perform other duties as assigned

What We're Looking For:

High school diploma or equivalent

Completion of a dental assisting program
Current Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license from the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners
Experience with digital radiography techniques
Working knowledge of dental terminology, instrumentation, sterilization procedures, radiology techniques, chairside assisting, and dental materials
CPR certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
Strong communication, customer service, and computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office
Ability to work evenings
Must comply with GCHD immunization policy and ICS training requirements
Must pass a pre-employment physical/fitness for duty examination, criminal background check, and drug/alcohol screening

Preferred Qualifications:

Clinical patient treatment experience (externship or similar)
1+ years of experience as a dental assistant

Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

Experience with electronic dental records or NextGen QSI software

Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
