Old Paths Natural Market, located in Central, LA, is looking for a dedicated and experienced FULL TIME Manager to join our team and help us grow. *Starting pay depends on experience.

We are a local independent health food store committed to providing high-quality natural products and excellent service to our community, and we need someone who shares our values and vision to help us grow.


About the Role

As the Manager, you will play a vital role in overseeing the daily operations of our market. From ensuring smooth workflows and inventory to motivating our team, you will be the driving force behind our success. This is an incredible opportunity for someone with at least 3 years of management experience who is ready to bring their expertise and enthusiasm to a meaningful role.


What You’ll Be Doing

Here’s a glimpse at some of the key responsibilities you’ll take on:


Leadership and Team Management

  • Oversee daily operations to ensure efficiency and productivity.
  • Lead, train, and inspire a team to deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Hire, train, schedule, and supervise store staff to maintain smooth operations while managing labor costs.
  • Coach employees on customer service, product knowledge, and store standards.
  • Handle basic HR issues at the store level, including discipline, feedback, and onboarding.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Handle escalated customer issues or complaints.

Customer Service and Front End

  • Run the POS system and facilitate customer transactions.
  • Model high-touch customer service, especially with people asking health and supplement questions.
  • Safe cash handling and deposits.

Operations, Safety, and Compliance

  • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Make sure the store meets food safety and health regulations, including managing expiration dates.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, implement solutions, and enforce store policies.

Administrative and Communication

  • Monitor and manage store email and phone communication, including customers and business partners.
  • Handle administrative correspondence with the CPA, banking institutions, insurance providers, utilities and other service partners.
  • Oversee store licenses and compliance, ensuring all city and state requirements, permits, and renewals are kept up to date.

Inventory, Merchandising, and Vendors

  • Manage inventory and ensure the store is well-stocked and organized.
  • Oversee ordering and receiving of groceries, supplements, and personal-care items.
  • Maintain accurate inventory, monitor stock levels, and minimize out-of-stocks and shrink.
  • Review daily and weekly sales reports and adjust staffing and purchasing accordingly.
  • Work with reps and vendors, including promotions, discounts, and new products.
  • Set and adjust retail pricing within margin targets.
  • Design and maintain attractive displays and endcaps, especially for featured or seasonal items.

Financial Stewardship and Growth

  • Hit targets for sales, gross margin, labor percentage, expenses, and shrink.
  • Help with or prepare monthly summaries for the owner (what is selling, what is not, and ideas to improve).

Events, Community, and Promotion

  • Support or lead in-store events, demos, and classes.
  • Coordinate samples, taste-tests, vendor days, or customer appreciation events.
  • Work with the owner on promotions, social media highlights, and loyalty ideas.


What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you will need:

  • 3 years of management experience, preferably in retail or a similar environment.
  • Natural wellness experience or familiarity.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to guide and support your team.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • A proactive mindset and the ability to adapt to challenges.

  • Weekend availability, as we are open 7 days a week.
