Job DescriptionJob Title: Controller - Commercial Construction
Job Summary:
The Controller will work closely with the Owner and other members of the finance team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and efficient financial operations.
- The estimated pay range for this role is $65,000 - $100,000, depending on experience.
Responsibilities:
- Supervising the production and accuracy of financial documents, such as balance sheets and income statements.
- Overseeing the preparation of federal, state and local tax returns and remaining informed about tax laws.
- Support accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing.
- Monitor project cost accounting, including tracking job costs and analyzing variances.
- Assist in the formulation and documentation of internal controls and policies to comply with industry regulations and established best practices.
- Manage journal entries and reconcile accounts for the monthly and annual closing.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts
- Participate in financial audits, preparing audit schedules and documentation.
- Help in development of reports for management or regulatory bodies
- Review the company's accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies.
- Utilize the ERP system to facilitate processes and maintain records.
- Provide leadership and guidance to accounting staff and support their professional development.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- CPA or CCIFP certification preferred
- 5+ years of experience in construction accounting
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, construction industry regulations and financial reporting requirements
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Enterprise and MS Excel
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
