IATF Quality Engineer | Norton Shores, MI

Salary Range: $81,000 - $116,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve the IATF 16949 Quality Management System and associated procedures.
  • Lead internal audits (process, product, system) and support external certification and customer audits.
  • Drive root cause analysis and implement effective corrective and preventive actions for internal and external non-conformances (e.g., 8D methodology).
  • Develop, implement, and monitor quality control plans, FMEAs, and statistical process control (SPC) for manufacturing processes.
  • Manage Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities and prepare Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives for quality and efficiency.
  • Address customer quality concerns, ensure compliance with customer specific requirements, and facilitate timely resolution of issues.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field).
  • Proven expertise in IATF 16949 standard implementation and compliance.
  • Proficiency in core automotive quality tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience applying methodologies like 8D or 5 Whys.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Quality Engineer in an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Certified IATF 16949 Internal Auditor.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
  • Proficiency with statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab, JMP)
  • Experience implementing Lean manufacturing principles and tools
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) certification
