The Opportunity
A well-established, high-growth masonry and stucco contractor is seeking a Construction Controller to lead our financial operations. We are looking for a high-integrity, disciplined professional who can provide strategic financial oversight while working primarily in a remote capacity.
This role is ideal for a responsible self-starter who excels at "job costing" and has the professional maturity to thrive in the fast-paced construction industry. You will be a key partner to the President, providing the data necessary to drive profitability and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Management: Oversee all accounting functions, including accrual-based accounting, GAAP-compliant reporting, and internal controls.

Project Controls (WIP): Lead monthly Work-in-Progress (WIP) reconciliations and trend analysis to flag cost variances early-specifically monitoring job completion percentages against budget burn rates.

Construction Billing: Manage the complex pay application process, ensuring accurate billing against the schedule of values and maintaining a healthy "quote-to-cash" cycle.

Cash Flow & Liquidity: Proactively forecast and manage cash flow to ensure payroll and material obligations are met during peak billing windows.

Process Implementation: Drive the transition and maintenance of project management and accounting software; experience with QuickBooks Online and Construction Online (or Esub) is highly preferred.

Operations Alignment: Facilitate weekly "FinOps" meetings with Project Managers to review job performance, PO values, and change orders.

Staff Oversight: Provide leadership and mentorship to the internal accounting support team, ensuring accuracy in day-to-day data entry and payables.
Qualifications

Experience: 10+ years of professional accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a Controller-level role specifically within construction or industrial manufacturing.

Technical Skills: Expert proficiency in QuickBooks Online and advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, Trend Analysis, and Burn Rate tracking).

Compliance & Reporting:

Proven experience with Certified Payroll requirements for government contracts.

Proficiency in prevailing wage reporting platforms such as LCPtracker, Elation Systems, or similar is a major plus.
