The Opportunity
This Is Not an Entry-Level Concrete Role.
This is a craftsmanship role for professionals who take pride in their work.
At Alpha Inc., Journeyman Masons don't just place concrete — they set the standard. You're the person others watch, learn from, and rely on when quality, safety, and production matter most.
If you're the kind of mason who understands that forms, finish, and teamwork all matter — and you want to work with a crew that respects skill, hustle, and accountability — keep reading.
About Alpha Inc.
Alpha Inc. is a Hawaiʻi-born heavy civil, concrete, drilling, renewable energy, and infrastructure company committed to building projects that strengthen island communities for generations.
Our work is guided by three core values that show up every day on every jobsite:
- Lead with Heart – We look out for our people and operate with respect and integrity.
- Strength in Unity – One crew, one goal. We win together or not at all.
- Alpha Mentality – High standards, personal ownership, and relentless execution.
As a Journeyman Mason, you are expected to live these values in the field.
What You'll Do
This role is hands-on, fast-paced, and essential to jobsite success. You'll work closely with the Foreman and crew to ensure every pour meets Alpha's standards for safety, quality, and productivity.
Your responsibilities include:
- Consistently follow all safety regulations and company policies — no shortcuts.
- Participate in daily crew meetings focused on safety, quality, and production goals.
- Examine, set, and align concrete forms to ensure proper construction, depth, and pitch.
- Pour, spread, level, smooth, and finish concrete using hand and power tools (shovels, floats, rakes, trowels, screeds, vibrators, brooms).
- Form expansion joints and edges using jointers, straightedges, and edging tools.
- Apply sealants, waterproofing, and hardening agents as required.
- Perform advanced finishing techniques including stamping, staining, and coloring.
- Coordinate with truck drivers and other masons during pours to maintain quality and flow.
- Support and help guide less experienced crew members by example.
- Assist with additional construction tasks as assigned by the Foreman.
What Makes you an A-Player Here
We're not looking for "someone who can do concrete."
We're looking for someone who owns their craft.
You bring:
- 3+ years of masonry experience
- Journeyman-level expertise in mixing, pouring, finishing, and concrete selection.
- Strong working knowledge of hand tools and mechanical equipment.
- Physical capability to lift up to 100 lbs and work on, under, and around equipment.
- Ability to bend, kneel, stand, and work on your feet for extended periods.
- A strong safety mindset and respect for trade best practices.
- Reliability — you show up, follow through, and take pride in your reputation.
- A valid driver's license and clean driving record (preferred).
Most importantly, you bring the right mindset:
- You take ownership.
- You care about quality.
- You respect the crew.
- You want to get better.
Why Alpha?
Because here, skill is respected and hard work is noticed.
At Alpha Inc., you'll work with:
- Experienced crews who take pride in doing things the right way.
- Leadership that understands the realities of the field.
- A company that invests in safety, people, and long-term careers — not just projects.
- Opportunities to work on prevailing wage and high-impact infrastructure jobs across Hawaiʻi.
Requirements (Conditions of Employment)
Employment at Alpha Inc. is contingent upon:
- Completion of standard pre-employment screening.
- Successful completion of a background check conducted after a conditional offer; any prior issues will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis consistent with Hawaiʻi and federal law.
- Passing a drug test (for both full-time and part-time hires) conducted in line with Hawaiʻi statutory requirements.
Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States; we are unable to sponsor employment visas. Employment eligibility will be verified upon hire.
If you need a reasonable accommodation during the application or hiring process, please contact us at careers@alphahawaii.com.
