Overview of Responsibilities and Requirements

An accountant is responsible for managing financial records, analyzing financial data, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. This role is pivotal in maintaining the financial health of our entire organization (including Believers Church, Hub 757, and Oak & Lily Academy), providing insights, and facilitating strategic decision-making. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the seamless and effect functioning of our organization, all within a collaborative and faith-driven setting.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Bookkeeping: Maintain and update general ledger accounts, ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly for all entities (Believers Church, Hub 757 and Oak and Lily Academy). Manage daily contributions (weekly Sunday donations as well as daily online giving. Bi-Monthly reconciliation of credit card bills, ensuring that all transactions are properly classified and entered in QuickBooks and that supporting documentation has been provided.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development of budgets and forecast future financial performance.
  • Tax Compliance: Prepare and file tax returns, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Audit Support: Assist Director of Finance to compile, analyze and prepare monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements for use by both management and Board of Directors. Support annual external review by pulling documentation and other tasks as required.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Manage accounts payable and receivable processes to ensure timely payments and collections.
  • Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements, financial discrepancies and intercompany transactions for related entities to ensure accuracy. Bi-Monthly reconciliation of credit card bills, ensuring that all transactions are properly classified and entered in QuickBooks and that supporting documentation has been provided.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Cost Management: Monitor and analyze costs to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated with financial regulations and ensure the organizations compliance.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of accounting experience in a similar role.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting.
