Project Manager / Estimator

As we continue to expand our team, we are seeking a skilled Project Manager / Estimator with hands-on experience in Job Order Contracting (JOC) pricing and a working knowledge of Chicago Public Schools (CPS) project protocols.
Position Summary:
The Project Manager / Estimator will oversee and estimate public-sector construction projects from concept through closeout, with an emphasis on Job Order Contracting (JOC) delivery methods. This individual will play a key role in preparing accurate estimates, managing project execution, and maintaining relationships with CPS stakeholders and other municipal clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed estimates using EGordian’s JOC pricing database.
- Develop, review, and submit proposals in response to CPS and other public-sector scopes of work.
- Manage day-to-day construction operations on assigned projects.
- Coordinate with architects, subcontractors, inspectors, and CPS representatives.
- Ensure compliance with contract documents, timelines, safety standards, and budget constraints.
- Assist with subcontractor solicitation, bid analysis, and contract award.
- Maintain thorough project documentation and reporting.
- Perform site visits and inspections to monitor project progress and quality
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Project Manager and/or Estimator in the commercial construction industry.
- Proven experience with EGordian JOC pricing.
- Familiarity with CPS project requirements, including facilities, safety, and compliance procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred. A history of documented practical experience in lieu of degree is acceptable.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documents.
- Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Procore, eBuilder, MS Project) is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites throughout Chicago.
Preferred:
- Previous direct work with Chicago Public Schools as a contractor or project manager.
- Experience managing multi-trade projects in occupied school buildings.
