A specialized opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse with ICU experience focused on adult critical care in a busy Level III Trauma Center. This role involves providing direct patient care in a 20-bed Medical ICU (MICU) that handles complex cases including Substance Abuse/Overdose, severe psychiatric conditions, Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA), Sepsis, GI bleeds, Respiratory Failure, Cardiac Arrest, Renal Failure, and Cardiogenic Shock. The ICU is supported around the clock by attendings and residents, ensuring comprehensive multidisciplinary care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care to critically ill adult patients in the MICU.
  • Manage patient assignments typically at a 1:2 nurse to patient ratio, with higher acuity cases receiving 1:1 care.
  • Float to medical/surgical units as required, managing up to 5 patients with telemetry competency.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans.
  • Utilize EPIC for thorough and accurate patient documentation.
  • Work assigned rotating shifts including nights and every other weekend coverage; night shift remains consistent without rotation.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of continuous experience in an adult Medical ICU.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts with current BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Proficient in reading telemetry strips.
  • Experience in high-acuity patient care within medical/surgical and intensive care settings.
  • Ability and willingness to float between ICU and medical/surgical units.
  • Competency with electronic medical records, preferably EPIC.
