LMSW Intake Therapist – Adult Behavioral Health (Evenings)
Location: Southgate, Michigan
Position Type: Permanent | Full-Time (Evenings)
Schedule:
- Monday–Thursday: 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM
- Friday: 4:00 PM – 11:00 PM
- Occasional Saturday: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM (as needed)
Salary Range: $29.47 – $39.88/hour (Full License Required)
Position Summary
The Intake Therapist (LMSW/LLP/LPC) provides assessment and crisis support services within the Behavioral Health Urgent Care (BHUC) setting. Services are delivered in-office on a walk-in or scheduled basis.
The Intake Therapist conducts comprehensive intake assessments, develops safety plans, initiates person-centered planning, and connects consumers to appropriate behavioral health services. This role requires strong crisis intervention skills and experience working with individuals with severe mental illness and intellectual/developmental disabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct intake assessments and complete documentation within 48 hours
- Gather and integrate information from multiple sources
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques
- Develop person-centered initial treatment plans
- Create safety plans as needed
- Identify need for psychological testing and facilitate referrals
- Promote group and support services
- Participate in supervision and case consultations
- Maintain productivity and documentation standards
- Maintain professional licensure and complete 25 hours of annual training
- Comply with Medicaid guidelines and agency policies
Required Qualifications
Education
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling
Licensure
- Full Michigan License required: LMSW, LLP, or LPC
- Licensure must remain active and free from disciplinary action
- Must obtain QMHP, CMHP, and QIDP credentials within 120 days of hire
- Must hold CAADC credential OR be on an approved MCBAP Development Plan within 6 weeks of hire
Experience
- Minimum 1 year post-Master’s experience providing mental health treatment
- Experience working with severe mental illness (SMI)
- Minimum 1 year experience with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (IDD)
- Minimum 1 year experience treating minors and families
- Crisis intervention experience highly preferred

- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Cannot require U.S. work sponsorship
