    Certification Details
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
  • American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) certification required.
  • Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) certification in cardiac ultrasound required.
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) from CCI required within 12 months of start or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) from CCI within 12 months of start.
    Job Details
  • The Echocardiographer is responsible for performing Transthoracic echocardiograms, assisting with Transesophageal Echocardiograms, and performing exercise and Dobutamine Stress Echocardiograms under supervision.
  • Demonstrates increasing competency in delivery of care to a primarily adult population.
  • Performs routine and emergency echocardiograms including 2D, 3D, Doppler, and Transesophageal echocardiograms as requested by physicians.
  • Operates and maintains ultrasound equipment, performs quality improvement activities, and prepares preliminary reports for cardiologist review.
  • Prepares and instructs patients pre- and post-procedure.
  • Utilizes ultrasound contrast according to ASE guidelines and department policy.
    Job Requirements
  • One to three years’ experience as a cardiac sonographer is required.
  • Completion of a two-year Allied Health degree or equivalent education.
  • Successful completion of a 12-month CAAHEP approved School of Ultrasound Technology or Cardiovascular Technology program.
  • Preferred previous healthcare-related training such as CNA, EMT, PCA, or other.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in performing various echocardiography procedures and equipment operation.
    Schedule Information
  • 1st shift.
  • 8 hours per day.
  • 40 hours per week.
  • No nights or call.
  • Works variable shifts, weekends, and provides emergent call coverage as scheduled.
    Additional Details
  • Participates in quality improvement activities and maintains appropriate logs, files, and records.
  • Maintains clean and orderly patient care environment.
  • Performs routine cleaning, preventive maintenance, and reports equipment malfunctions.
