- Certification Details
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) certification required.
- Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) certification in cardiac ultrasound required.
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) from CCI required within 12 months of start or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) from CCI within 12 months of start.
- Job Details
- The Echocardiographer is responsible for performing Transthoracic echocardiograms, assisting with Transesophageal Echocardiograms, and performing exercise and Dobutamine Stress Echocardiograms under supervision.
- Demonstrates increasing competency in delivery of care to a primarily adult population.
- Performs routine and emergency echocardiograms including 2D, 3D, Doppler, and Transesophageal echocardiograms as requested by physicians.
- Operates and maintains ultrasound equipment, performs quality improvement activities, and prepares preliminary reports for cardiologist review.
- Prepares and instructs patients pre- and post-procedure.
- Utilizes ultrasound contrast according to ASE guidelines and department policy.
- Job Requirements
- One to three years’ experience as a cardiac sonographer is required.
- Completion of a two-year Allied Health degree or equivalent education.
- Successful completion of a 12-month CAAHEP approved School of Ultrasound Technology or Cardiovascular Technology program.
- Preferred previous healthcare-related training such as CNA, EMT, PCA, or other.
- Must demonstrate proficiency in performing various echocardiography procedures and equipment operation.
- Schedule Information
- 1st shift.
- 8 hours per day.
- 40 hours per week.
- No nights or call.
- Works variable shifts, weekends, and provides emergent call coverage as scheduled.

- Participates in quality improvement activities and maintains appropriate logs, files, and records.
- Maintains clean and orderly patient care environment.
- Performs routine cleaning, preventive maintenance, and reports equipment malfunctions.
