Reporting To: Election Protection Senior Technical Hotline Specialist and Election Protection Infrastructure Manager
About the Role
Join our dedicated Election Protection team as an Election Support Specialist, playing a crucial role in safeguarding voter rights during election seasons. You will be the frontline support for thousands of voters and legal volunteers, ensuring they receive accurate information and assistance through our 866-OUR-VOTE Hotline. This fast-paced, dynamic position offers an opportunity to contribute directly to the integrity of the electoral process while developing your skills in community engagement, legal support, and technological tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Daily Hotline Operations: Oversee the smooth functioning of the 866-OUR-VOTE contact center, handling interactions from voters seeking election-related information and assistance.
- Coordinate Legal Volunteer Efforts: Recruit, train, and support a diverse team of legal volunteers—including attorneys, paralegals, law students, and legal professionals—to ensure timely and high-quality responses to voter inquiries.
- Support Volunteer Resources: Update and maintain technical support guides, state-specific information, and training materials to keep volunteers well-equipped.
- Technical Assistance & Training: Provide technical support to volunteers, conduct training sessions to improve their effectiveness, and troubleshoot platform issues as needed.
- Conduct Research & Data Collection: Gather and analyze information to enhance legal resources, improve hotline procedures, and ensure data accuracy.
- Quality Control & Monitoring: Review interactions documented in our database to maintain high-quality responses, identify systemic issues, and ensure consistency.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Generate daily reports summarizing call trends and outcomes, helping inform strategy, messaging, and outreach efforts.
- Support Continuous Improvement: Assist with post-event evaluations, data capture, and implementing best practices to enhance hotline performance.
Qualifications & Skills
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree required.
- Experience: Candidates with electoral campaign or election-related experience are highly encouraged to apply. Experience working with minority communities and managing volunteers is a plus.
- Communication Skills: Ability to synthesize complex legal and election information clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally.
- Technical Proficiency: Comfortable learning and using new technology platforms, call center software, and data management tools.
- Personal Traits: Patient, detail-oriented, flexible, and highly organized. Able to work well collaboratively and maintain a calm demeanor in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge: Solid understanding of voting processes, election laws, and issues related to voter rights.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This role operates in a professional office setting, primarily involving computer work and communication. You will be regularly speaking with callers and volunteers, frequently standing, walking, or utilizing hands for computer use.
