As a Urology Center of Iowa Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) you will be an important part of promoting our mission to provide compassionate, world-class urologic care and exceptional experiences for our patients, employees, and partners.
The clinical staff member functions under the supervision and guidance of the registered nurse lead and/or physician and participates in the multi-disciplinary process of providing care and treatment to patients and provides clinical support and technical assistance to the professional medical and other staff.

- Obtaining and recording patient medical histories, vital signs, test results and other information for medical records while maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Coordinating the daily administrative activities, including scheduling, patient check-in and check-out, patient phone calls, and patient medical record maintenance.
- Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming the purpose of visit or treatment.
- Gathers and completes FMLA/disability paperwork for eligible patients.
- Schedules office and hospital-based medical procedures and surgeries, for patients with appropriate provider and time/location slot, utilizing appropriate scheduling code.
- Interfaces with appropriate vendor staff to ensure all necessary equipment will be on-site for office and hospital-based procedures.
- Interfaces with appropriate hospital staff to ensure a cohesive working relationship in providing patient care serves.
- Enters notes/special instructions needed for scheduling in the electronic medical record.
- Provides accurate, detailed information to patients regarding test/surgery instruction, time of patient's scheduled arrival, and any other directional information needed; takes appropriate action in responding to questions from patients.
- Ensures patients have proper medical clearance and pre-surgical testing as needed.
- Ensures proper follow-up appointments are scheduled at the time the procedure is scheduled.
- Supports patient care delivery by helping health with preparing laboratory specimens; performing basic laboratory tests on the premises; performing bladder scans; disposing of contaminated supplies; sterilizing medical instruments; administering medications on the premises; authorizing drug refills as directed; working on medication prior authorizations; drawing blood as directed by providers; helping patients over the phone; stocking rooms, amongst other duties.
- Serves and protects the physician or health care provider practice by adhering to professional standards, policies, and procedures, and federal, state, and local requirements.
- Delivering compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families.
- Ensuring compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.

Urology experience preferred.
