Job Description

Veterinary Technician Wanted – Must Love Animals… and Controlled Chaos

Position: Veterinary Technician
Location: Small Animal Practice (where the patients are cute, sometimes hostile but always treated with kindness)

Are you a highly skilled professional who can place an IV catheter while being screamed at by a 9-lb Chihuahua and simultaneously reassuring a panicking owner that “yes, this is totally normal”? If so, you may be exactly who we’re looking for.

Our busy small animal clinic is seeking a Veterinary Technician who thrives in a fast-paced environment filled with wagging tails, sharp claws, mysterious smells, and the occasional emotional ups and downs.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Perform medical treatments and assist in surgeries with grace and confidence.

  • Restrain animals that may not want to be restrained.

  • Assist veterinarians during surgeries
  • Restrain dogs and cats safely and compassionately
  • Translate veterinarian instructions into something clients can understand.

  • Calm nervous pets while always up against a timeline of "ASAP"

  • Collect blood, urine, fecal samples, and occasionally your dignity.

  • Monitor anesthesia while enjoying the symphony of beeps, alarms, barking, and meows all around

  • Clean things you never imagined cleaning when you chose this career.

  • Reassure pet owners that Google is not a veterinary degree.

  • Maintain accurate patient medical records

Required Skills

  • Ability to read animal body language better than human body language.

  • Ninja-level reflexes when a cat decides today is not the day to be nice or timid.

  • Emotional resilience when a 16-year-old golden retriever melts your heart.

  • Multitasking abilities that would impress air traffic controllers.

  • Strong stomach and stronger sense of humor.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Veterinary Technician certification (or equivalent experience).

  • Ability to function on coffee, adrenaline, and dog kisses.

  • Comfortable being covered in fur, slobber, or both at any given moment.

  • The patience of a saint and the speed of a caffeinated squirrel.

Perks

  • Unlimited exposure to puppies and kittens (best benefit ever).

  • Coworkers who understand exactly why you’re laughing at a weird x-ray.

  • The satisfaction of helping animals who can’t help themselves.

  • Occasional thank-you tail wags that make the chaos worth it.

Fair Warning

This job may include:

  • Being hugged by strangers because you saved their dog’s life.

  • Crying in the treatment room over a patient you loved.

  • Going home smelling like antiseptic, kibble, and victory.

  • This position is based in a small animal veterinary clinic or hospital. The role requires standing for long periods, assisting in surgery, handling pets of various sizes and temperaments, and interacting regularly with pet owners.

This is a full time position with experience required and rotating weekend shifts.

If you’re ready to join a team where every day is unpredictable, messy, exhausting, and incredibly rewarding, we’d love to meet you.

Apply today—because the patients are waiting (and one of them just peed on the floor).

This is a full time position for a veterinary technician with experience. Shifts from 7:30 to 5pm Monday through Friday and rotating weekends to care for hospitalized pets only, clinic is not open on Sat or Sun.
