Position Summary
As a Junior Mechanical Engineer, you will support the engineering team in designing, analyzing, and validating mechanical systems and fabrication processes (pipe, sheet metal, steel) for projects in industrial, commercial, and institutional sectors. You"ll work on the shop-fabrication side, field services, and contribute to the company"s commitment to efficiency and quality.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist in the creation of mechanical system designs (piping, HVAC, plumbing, sheet metal, steel) including layout drawings, detail drawings, and sketches.
- Support the engineering team in performing calculations (stress, flow, structural support) and selection of mechanical components (piping, fittings, supports, ductwork, modules).
- Work with the shop fabrication team to review and validate fabricator drawings, ensuring compliance with specifications and applicable codes/standards.
- Support site and field services by providing engineering assistance during installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems.
- Collaborate with project managers, fabricators, and construction teams to ensure designs are practical for fabrication, installation, and meet project schedule and cost goals.
- Assist in creating and maintaining engineering documentation: drawings, specifications, technical submittals, BOMs (bill of materials), and revision control.
- Ensure engineering work aligns with the company"s safety and quality standards, and support continuous improvement efforts in the design and fabrication process.
- Stay up to date with mechanical engineering best practices, codes/standards (e.g., ASME, NFPA, ASTM, SMACNA), and applicable fabrication methods (pipe bending & forming, modular construction).

Qualifications & Skills

- Bachelor"s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related discipline).
- 0-3 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience (fresh graduates with intern/co-op experience welcomed).
- Knowledge of mechanical systems (piping, HVAC, plumbing, sheet metal, steel) in industrial or commercial environments is a plus.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, or equivalent).
- Familiarity with engineering analysis tools and techniques (stress/flow calculations, support design).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Good communication skills - able to work with engineers, fabricators, and field teams.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced fabrication/field environment, adapting to changes and working under guidance.
