GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

R-V Industries is a design and build manufacturer of custom industrial process equipment. We engineer to order, as well as build to print, a wide variety of specialty equipment. Most of our equipment is built in house by our own in-house fabricators, machinists, mechanical and electrical assemblers. This position’s primary function is to support our Paper Equipment Service Division. This role works directly with the mechanical assembly floor, Sales, and design engineering departments.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITES

• Create a proposal and standard work order to evaluate used mechanical equipment.

• Participate with the disassembling of mechanical equipment, cleaning, and organizing for evaluation.

• Measure bearing fits, interference fits, close sliding fits, and tapered fits.

• Reverse engineer mating components to establish recommended repairs.

• Conceptualize repair strategy and establish proposal for review with the customer.

• Establish repair scope with the customer and create a work order to execute the repairs outlining the project budget and schedule.

• Create design and detailed manufacturing drawings for the agreed repair work.

• Create shop travelers for the manufacturing steps to complete the work

• Provide technical support to manufacturing during the build phase.

• Monitor project progress related to budget, schedule and first pass quality.

• Participate with the reassembly of the repaired mechanical equipment.

• Establish positive relationships with internal and external customers through regular communication.

• Be engaged with continuous improvement of our processes and procedures.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

Required Skills:

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with industrial mechanical equipment in either a mechanical design, quality inspection, or hands on assembly capacity.

• Proficiency with SolidWorks

• Understanding of AWS Welding Symbols and their application

• Understanding of Geometric Tolerancing and their application

• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications

• Create design layouts & detailed drawings

• Check detailed drawings

• Write specs for buyout components

• Create Bills of Materials for purchasing and production

• Strong Communication, Organizational skills, Interpersonal skills, positive team player, passion for continuous learning and improvement.

Willing to Train the Right Candidate:

• Project Management, Technical Writing, Proposal Creation, Mechanical Assembly, Precision Measuring Equipment and Techniques, Establishing Recommendations for Repairs, Expectations for Repair Details, AWS Welding Symbology, and Geometric Tolerancing

EDUCATIONAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Associate’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field or 5+ years of relevant experience

• Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job with or without accommodation

By September of 1980, R-V’s manufacturing space had been repaired, and our facilities expanded through the 1980s and 1990s to meet rising demand.
