Summary
We are seeking a self-driven team player with excellent time management skills to join our team as a Medical Assistant. In this role, you will be the primary point of contact for patients, assisting them with their needs and scheduling new and follow-up appointments. The ideal candidate will be personable, knowledgeable about primary care services, and dedicated to providing excellent care in an ambulatory setting. This is an in-person position working within assisted living and independent living environments, collaborating with complementary companies and staff.
Responsibilities
- Input and maintain accurate EMR documentation.
- Assist clinical staff in completing examinations and providing patient education.
- Schedule appointments and facilitate the registration of new patients.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and State requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized office environment for patient concerns.
- Manage prior authorizations for medications.
- Coordinate and send outgoing referrals to specialists and home health services.
- Order labs, imaging, and DME (Durable Medical Equipment).
- Notify patients of test results.
- Handle medication refills and keep medication lists updated.
- Serve as the main liaison between the community, patients, and provider.
- Possess basic insurance knowledge and handle patient inquiries.
- Conduct and record patient vitals.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a healthcare or clinical setting.
- Certified Medical Assistant - Certification or Diploma required
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
- Knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, and State healthcare regulations.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Basic understanding of insurance processes and terminology.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
