Schedule: Monday - Friday (weekends as needed during construction season).

Project Scope: Public and Private Roadway, Excavation, and Utility Systems (Commercial, Industrial).

The Opportunity
Florence Cement Company is seeking a Construction Project Engineer to support the planning and execution of active civil construction projects. This role works closely with project managers and field teams to keep projects organized, on schedule, and aligned with technical and contractual requirements.
Youll be involved in both office coordination and field support, helping ensure projects move efficiently from start to finish.
What Youll Do

Support project planning, scheduling, and coordination from start-up through close-out

Prepare and manage project documentation, including change orders, pay estimates, and quantity tracking

Monitor project progress and help identify and resolve issues that may impact schedule or cost

Assist with budget tracking and cost control efforts

Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to align materials and deliveries with project needs

Conduct occasional site visits to support field operations and verify progress

Communicate key project updates, risks, and issues to project managers

Help resolve discrepancies related to quantities, billing, and project documentation

Maintain organized and accurate project records
What Were Looking For

Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Ability to manage multiple tasks across active projects

Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal

Comfortable working between office and field environments

Valid drivers license required
Preferred Experience
-
Experience in civil construction, heavy highway, or site development projects

Familiarity with construction software such as HCSS HeavyBid/HeavyJob or Microsoft Project
-
Experience with quantity takeoffs or earthwork software (AGTEK or similar is a plus)

Exposure to DOT (e.g., MDOT) specifications and reporting requirements
