Southeastern Virginia Health System operates a general dental practice in Newport News, Virginia and is seeking an experienced Dental Hygienist to work Mondays through Thursdays. Our hygienist will be responsible for:

1. Assessing and obtaining clinical evidence of patient's level of periodontal health.

2. Exposure and developing of appropriate diagnostic radiographs.

3. Develops appropriate treatment plan and sequence for treatment of existing periodontal disease.

4. Treatment of chronic periodontal conditions, including periodontal disease, gingivitis, ANUG, and acute periodontal abscess in conjunction with dentist.

5. Treatments are to include mechanical and ultrasonic instrumentation (scaling and root planing removal of calculus), supra-gingival removal of plaque and coronal polishing.

6. Application of fluorides and other medicaments as necessary.

7. Educating patients in all aspects of oral hygiene, and consequences and treatment options for periodontal disease

Our general dental practice offers cleanings and scalings to our patient population along with patient education to promote healthy oral care. We offer our clients an initial examination, x-rays and treatment plan. Services offered include cleanings/scaling, fillings, extractions, some root canals and other routine oral health services. We utilize an electronic medical record system and digital x-rays.
