Express Employment Professionals is recruiting on behalf of a manufacturing facility in Sunol, CA for an experienced leader to support a high-volume precast concrete yard. You’ll be the right hand to the Yard Manager, keeping production moving, championing safety, and guiding a skilled workforce.

A day in this role

Your morning starts on the yard—reviewing the day’s production plan, aligning with dispatch and sales on delivery timelines, and confirming raw materials, molds, and equipment are ready. As crews get underway, you’re monitoring workflow, balancing labor, and removing bottlenecks to maintain throughput and reduce downtime.

Throughout the day, you partner closely with Quality Control—resolving issues, maintaining records, and ensuring products meet internal criteria as well as Caltrans, PCI, and other industry standards. You reinforce a strong safety culture by leading toolbox talks, coordinating OSHA-compliant training, and walking the site to audit conditions.

You collaborate with maintenance to execute preventative plans, keep critical equipment reliable, and maintain a well-organized facility. Before the day wraps, you track labor, material usage, and production efficiency, preparing daily and weekly performance reports for leadership.

What you’ll impact

• Operations & Production: Plan, schedule, and oversee daily plant output to hit targets and delivery commitments.
• Cross-Functional Alignment: Coordinate with management, dispatch, and sales so production matches customer requirements.
• Resources & Materials: Manage raw material inventory, equipment utilization, and mold readiness.
• Quality & Compliance: Partner with QC to resolve issues and document results; ensure adherence to Caltrans, PCI, and internal standards.
• Safety Leadership: Promote OSHA compliance, lead safety meetings, training, and facility audits.
• People Leadership: Participate in hiring; train, coach, and evaluate team members; foster accountability and continuous improvement.
• Maintenance Coordination: Drive preventative maintenance and minimize downtime.
• Cost Control & Reporting: Monitor labor, efficiency, and material usage; produce daily/weekly production and performance reports.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in precast concrete production or related heavy manufacturing.
• 2+ years of supervisory or plant leadership experience.
• Working knowledge of precast production methods, molds, and curing processes.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
• Proficiency in production scheduling, inventory control, and basic computer systems.
• Proven leadership, communication, and decision-making abilities.
• PCI certification or familiarity with PCI standards preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Comfort working in an active manufacturing yard with heat, cold, dust, and noise.
• Able to walk, stand, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
• Consistent use of required PPE.
