Location - Syracuse, NYPosition Summary
The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is responsible for providing comprehensive respiratory care services to neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients in an acute care hospital setting. This role requires strong clinical expertise, the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and excellent communication skills while collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams.
Key Responsibilities

Administer positive pressure ventilation and aerosolized respiratory therapies

Initiate, monitor, and manage oxygen therapy across patient populations
-
Assist physicians with initiation and maintenance of continuous mechanical ventilation
-
Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) during emergency situations
-
Conduct pulmonary function testing as ordered
-
Perform radial arterial punctures and assist with arterial blood gas collection
-
Monitor patient response to respiratory treatments and adjust care accordingly
-
Accurately document assessments, treatments, and patient responses in the electronic medical record

Adhere to infection prevention, patient safety, and hospital compliance standards

Deliver high-quality respiratory care with minimal orientation and supervision
Patient Population

Acute care patients

Pediatric experience strongly preferred
Required Qualifications
-
Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Respiratory Therapy
-
Active New York State Respiratory Therapist license/registration
-
Minimum of 2 years of post–A.A.S. clinical acute care experience
-
Proven ability to function independently in a fast-paced acute care environment
-
Strong interpersonal, communication, and critical-thinking skills
-
Ability to successfully pass pre-employment health clearance
Preferences & Eligibility Requirements

Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility
-
Pediatric experience preferred
-
Travelers must be able to commit to the full contract duration
-
No block scheduling or dual-assignment arrangements permitted
