Job Title: Registered Nurse – Family Medicine Residency
Location:Mike O’Callaghan Military Medical Center (MOMMC), 4700 Las Vegas Blvd N, Nellis AFB, NV 89191
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:30 PM, 40 Hrs/week; occasional extended hours
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an NLNAC- or CCNE-accredited program.
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of professional nursing experience in the last 2 years. Experience in family practice, internal medicine, or academic/teaching clinic settings.
- License/Certification:
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license from any U.S. state.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Knowledge/Skills:
- Telehealth knowledge/familiarity required.
- Proficient in computer operations, word processing, data entry, and medical records systems.
- Knowledge of documentation requirements for disease progress, teaching, and follow-up care.
- Understanding of disease management, population health, and preventive health schedules/procedures.
- Broad knowledge of medical conditions across the lifespan (pediatrics, adolescents, adults, OB, geriatrics).
- Ability to apply nursing care theories and the nursing process in professional practice.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care and nursing support in the Family Medicine Residency Clinic.
- Support residents and attending physicians by assisting in patient triage, examinations, procedures, and follow-up care.
- Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for family medicine residents, modeling nursing best practices.
- Facilitate telehealth visits, ensuring technology readiness and patient/provider support.
- Participate in teaching activities, including case discussions, skills training, and academic conferences as directed.
- Assist with preventive health, chronic disease management, and patient education initiatives.
- Document all care and resident interactions in the Military Health System Electronic Health Record (MHS GENESIS).
- Collaborate with faculty, residents, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity and quality of care.
- Support clinic quality improvement projects and meet patient safety, readiness, and Joint Commission standards.
