Position Overview

This position supports companywide efforts to improve the operation, performance, and efficiency of manufacturing processes. The Senior Electrical Engineer provides technical leadership on electrical power, automation, control systems, and instrumentation across multiple facilities. The role involves design work, project oversight, problem solving, and collaboration with engineering teams, plant personnel, and external partners to ensure safe, reliable, and optimized plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversees, guides, and trains engineers, plant staff, and external consultants involved in electrical and control system work.
  • Develops electrical, automation, and instrumentation criteria for plant upgrades and new installations.
  • Prepares specifications for equipment procurement and installation related to electrical and control projects.
  • Evaluates equipment proposals and contractor bids and provides recommendations.
  • Creates cost estimates for electrical portions of plant modifications and capital projects.
  • Designs electrical power distribution systems, control systems, and instrumentation for new and existing facilities.
  • Reviews and approves electrical engineering drawings and permit documents for plant projects.
  • Provides field inspections, coordination, and oversight during electrical construction activities.
  • Supports commissioning and start-up activities for plant additions and modifications.
  • Analyzes electrical and control system issues at various sites and develops solutions.
  • Manages capital improvement projects as needed.
  • Participates in multi-discipline engineering activities throughout project execution.
  • Contributes to energy management initiatives and identifies opportunities for improved energy efficiency.
  • Assists in long-term planning related to facility expansion and operational growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering.
  • Extensive electrical engineering experience in manufacturing, construction materials, or related heavy industry.
  • Strong background in electrical design, power distribution, motor controls, automation systems, instrumentation, and industrial control systems.
  • Solid understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Willingness to travel to company facilities and project locations.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative in managing technical tasks and projects.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with both plant personnel and corporate teams.
  • Preferred: Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • Preferred: Experience with cement, asphalt, ready mix, or aggregate plant operations.
