Teachers Now is seeking motivated and dependable Substitute Teachers for Redesign Schools in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This is a great opportunity to step into the classroom and provide essential support in the absence of the regular teacher, paraprofessional, or instructional aide—helping students stay on track with their learning.

A Day in the Life of a Substitute Teacher (Baton Rouge):

As a Substitute Teacher, you’ll enjoy a flexible weekday schedule (Monday through Friday), with shift availability between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Half-day options are also available (7:00 AM–12:00 PM or 12:00 PM–5:00 PM).

Pay/Compensation:
Varies based on education and certification ($120-140 daily)

Your day may include:

• Following Lesson Plans: Use provided plans to ensure learning continues smoothly in the teacher’s absence.
  
  

• Classroom Engagement: Lead and manage the classroom, encouraging student participation and minimizing disruptions.
  
  

• Meeting Student Needs: Adjust teaching methods to maintain a safe and supportive environment for all students.
  
  

• Supervising Students: Monitor students in the classroom, hallways, lunchroom, and playground as needed.
  
  

• Distributing Assignments: Hand out classwork and homework in line with the lesson plan.
  
  

• Taking Attendance: Keep accurate records and report incidents or concerns to school staff.
  
  

• Supporting School Teams: Participate in school responsibilities and help across different departments as needed.
  
  

• Maintaining Safety: Ensure student and facility safety by following appropriate guidelines.
  
  

• For Long-Term Subs: You may be responsible for creating lesson plans that align with the classroom curriculum.
  
  

Requirements:

• Associate Degree or 60+ college credit hours (required)
  
  

• Bachelor’s Degree or Teaching Certification (preferred, not required)
  
  

• Previous classroom or childcare experience (preferred)
  
  

• Confident classroom management and leadership skills
  
  

• Must pass state and federal background checks
  
  

• A strong belief in student potential and a desire to support their success
