Job Title: Medical Collector
Work Location: Galleria area in office for the first 30-45 days then fully remote
Responsibilities/ Job Duties:
- Manage complex insurance denials and perform detailed follow-up on outstanding balances across commercial and self-funded payers (BCBS, UHC, Aetna, Cigna)
- Prepare and submit comprehensive appeals, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with payer-specific requirements
- Conduct thorough account analysis to identify root causes of denials and implement effective resolution strategies
- Communicate with insurance carriers and patients to resolve billing issues, verify benefits, and expedite payment processes
- Navigate out-of-network billing scenarios, applying in-depth knowledge of reimbursement policies and negotiation practices
- Maintain high productivity while managing multiple accounts, prioritizing workload to meet deadlines and collection goals
- Collaborate with internal teams to address billing discrepancies and improve overall revenue cycle performance
- Document all account activity accurately in systems, ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- 3 years of medical collections experience
- Strong knowledge of commercial insurance payers (BCBS, UHC) or self-funded providers
- Knowledge of EOB's, HIPAA, ICD-10 codes, and CPT codes
Preferred Skills:
- Hospital and or physician experience
- Knowledge of and/or experience with Out of Network Collections (see potential screening questions below)
- Knowledge of and/or experience with NSA (No Surprise Act), TDI, and IDR (independent dispute resolution)
Schedule/ Shift: Monday - Friday | 8 AM - 5 PM
