The Installation/ Upfitter Technician is responsible for converting brand-new vehicles into fully equipped police and emergency response units. This role requires advanced mechanical and electrical expertise, the ability to work independently, and a strong focus on quality, safety, and efficiency in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Install all equipment required to upfit vehicles for police and emergency use
- Route, install, and terminate wiring harnesses, controllers, light bars, consoles, partitions, push bumpers, camera and radar systems, power supplies, and related components
- Disassemble and reassemble factory vehicles according to build specifications
- Read and interpret electrical schematics with minimal supervision
- Perform advanced installations using industry-standard upfitter equipment and components
- Maintain accurate production and quality records
- Contribute ideas to improve efficiency, workflow, and build quality
- Work collaboratively while following safety and quality standards
- Attend required meetings
Required Qualifications

3+ years of automotive electrical systems experience
- 3+ years of experience as a police or emergency vehicle upfitter technician

High school diploma or GED

Valid Texas driver's license

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

Positive attitude and ability to perform in a fast-paced environment

Must pass an extensive background check
Preferred Qualifications

ASE Automotive Technician certification or mechanics license

EVT (Emergency Vehicle Technician) certification
Compensation & Benefits

$25-30 per flag hour based on actual upfitting time per vehicle
