Purpose Statement:Recovery in Motion is a dedicated team of motivated individuals who work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide effective substance use disorder treatment services.
Key Result Areas:
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide individualcounseling, group counseling, case management, crisisintervention that addresses the goalsestablishedon the treatment plan
- Document services provided inappropriateclientfiles according to Recovery in Motionspoliciesandproceduresand standardsestablishedby governing bodies
- Develop comprehensive treatment plans that meet the individualneeds of the client. Treatment plans will be completedin accordance withRecovery in Motions policies and procedures and standardsestablishedby governing bodies
- Participate in weekly staff meetings and supervision meetings
- Conduct weekly individual supervision meetings with clinicians and interns
- Responsible fordisciplinary action in response toemployee problems,performanceor behavior; including but not limited to, verbal, written and performance improvement plan
- Coordinatecarewith outside providers such as court, Department of Corrections, and other referral sources and provideappropriateinformationas requested
- Discharge dutiesin accordance withcontracts, licensure standards, and Recovery in Motionspolicies and procedures
- Exhibits knowledge of core competencies in relation to working with co-occurring disordersthrough continuing education and implementing skills into all aspects oftreatment
- Maintain current knowledge of site and client activities
- Plan work tasksto coincide with programming requirements
- Set priorities in monitoring clients, making houserounds, documentation of pertinent information and completionof other assignments
- Available in afriendlyrespectfuldignified manner, to clients for questions and otherassistance
- Handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Highly dependable and can be counted on to work independently, having the ability towork with little direction
- Maintainan up-to-date knowledge of program philosophy andpolicesand procedures, 245Grequirements, house operations, including client rights and confidentiality
- Complete intake/admission procedures, orientation of new clients and co-workers
- Encourage clients to achieve their goals by functioning as a positive role model
- Serve as a resource for clients through knowledge of services and opportunities in the community
- Accuratedocumentation of client information in the communications log and completionof other forms
- A clear understandingof the program mission and how his/her work integrateswith and advances the goals of the program
- Respond to clientconflict resolution, grievances, and clinicaldisciplinary issues
- Complete other tasks as assignedby the supervisor
- Usesound decision making skills,exhibitinggood judgment andrealistic understanding of issues
- All other duties, as assigned
Required Skills and Experience (Minimum Requirements):
- Must meet the qualification requirements for an alcohol and drug counselor, noted belowunder
- An alcohol and drug counselor must either be licensed or exempt from licensure under chapter 148F.
- An individual who is exempt from licensure under chapter 148F must meet one for the followingadditionalrequirements:
- completion of at least a baccalaureate degree with a major or concentration in social work, nursing, sociology, human services, or psychology, or licensure as a registered nurse; successful completion of a minimum of120 hoursof classroom instruction in which each of the core functions listed in chapter 148F is covered; and successful completion of440 hoursof supervised experience as an alcohol and drug counselor, either as a student or a staff member;
- completion of at least270 hoursof drug counselor training in which each of the core functions listed in chapter 148F is covered, and successfulcompletion of880 hoursof supervised experience as an alcohol and drug counselor, either as a student or as a staffmember;
- current certification as an alcohol and drug counselor or alcohol and drug counselor reciprocal, through the evaluation processestablishedby the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse,Inc.;
- completion of a bachelor's degree including480 hoursof alcohol and drug counseling education from an accredited school or educational program and880 hoursof alcohol and drug counseling practicum; or
- employment in a program formerly licensed under Minnesota Rules, parts 9530.5000 to 9530.6400, and successful completion of6,000 hoursof supervised work experience in a licensed program as an alcohol and drug counselor prior to January 1, 2005.
- Have three or more years of experience providing individual and group counseling to individuals with substance usedisorder;
- Know and understand the implications ofchapter 245G,sections 245A.65, 626.557, and 626.5572, and chapter 260E.
- CPRcertificationorattainwithin 30-days
- Complete background study
- Valid drivers license
- Ability to use MicrosoftOffice programsand other computer skills
Additional Skills and Experience (Preferred):
- Mastersdegree in a human service field
- Specialty trainingsuch as DBT, CBT, MI,ect
