Join our team as a Foster Parent Training Specialist!
KVC Kansas | Full-Time
The Foster Parent Training Specialist provides education, assistance, and training to foster parents in order to ensure quality service delivery and ongoing training and support. This position also identifies topics relevant to issues foster parents are experiencing and develops and implements training and support plans.
This position allows remote work, with flexibility to work out of the Olathe, Lawrence, Topeka, or Hiawatha office locations. This position is required to service the Kansas City Metro areas, as well as Lawrence, Topeka and Hiawatha areas.
Education and experience requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university required.

Three years experience in children and family services.

Experience training large groups of people and coordinating and hosting events.

Requires Intermediate computer skills in typing/keyboarding, Microsoft Word and Excel programs as well as Outlook email.
Licensure & Certifications:

Valid driver’s license and auto insurance required.

Must be at least 21 years of age.
What you will do:
• To continue to build a child welfare system that is safe, secure, and stable; family centered, connected to the community; and which relies on evidence-based practice necessary to support contract services in Kansas
• Ensure foster homes have ample opportunities to complete required annual trainings and have working knowledge of current state and agency licensing regulations and policies
• Assist with foster home retention and recruitment efforts and represent the agency at external meetings as assigned
• Shadow staff and meet with foster parents regularly to specifically identify areas requiring additional training of foster homes; and provide follow up training and coaching as needed
• Identify training topics relevant to issues foster parents are experiencing and implement the training and support. CPR/ First Aid Certified- hold regular trainings for foster parents
• Develop, research, and acquire curriculum for requested and/or required training needs as necessary
• Facilitate monthly/ quarterly support group trainings, lead individualized coaching sessions with foster parents identified as needing/ wanting more support and participate in Continued Success Meetings with CPA and Permanency
• Develop annual weekend retreats focused on relevant issues foster parents experience and focus on relationship building and community connectedness
• Facilitate trainings for permanency staff to help improve working relationships with foster parents and serve as a consultant for Family Service Coordinators
• Advocate for foster homes and seamless service systems within KVC, the communities served by KVC, the statewide network that affects the work KVC does on behalf of children and their families
