Job Description
Our Client is seeking a Managing Editor to join a highly collaborative media and communications team supporting a large, industry-focused organization. This role is editor-first and project-manager second, owning day-to-day editorial execution across print and digital platforms. The ideal candidate is a true editor who enjoys reading, writing, shaping content, managing workflows, and keeping multiple contributors aligned and on deadline.
This is an execution-focused editorial role with no direct reports, centered on hands-on editing, production management, and cross-functional coordination rather than newsroom leadership.
You Will:
- Lead the day-to-day planning, production, and execution of a flagship print publication.
- Edit content at all levels, including substantive editing, copyediting, and proofreading, while maintaining a consistent editorial voice and high quality standards.
- Write and edit original content for print and digital platforms, including feature articles, newsletters, and longform pieces.
- Assign, manage, and edit work from internal and external writers and contributors.
- Own editorial project management, including timelines, workflows, deadlines, and coordination with design, advertising, and operations partners.
- Support ongoing digital publishing efforts and serve as editorial backup across newsletters and web content.
- Contribute to special publications and event-related content that require flexibility and comfort working under tight deadlines.
- Apply digital best practices and performance insights to inform editorial decisions.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to support broader organizational goals.
- Represent the organization professionally at industry events and provide editorial coverage as needed.
You Have:
- At least five years of professional editorial experience in a media, publishing, or content-driven environment.
- Exceptional editing skills with strong attention to detail and comfort managing multiple drafts and contributors.
- Strong writing skills across both print and digital formats.
- Proven experience managing editorial projects, workflows, and production schedules.
- Hands-on experience with Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, and comfort working within layout files.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while juggling multiple priorities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- A proactive, go-getter mindset with the ability to work independently and take ownership.
- Interest in or exposure to food services, retail, or adjacent industries is a strong plus.
- Ability to provide writing and editing samples during the interview process.
