About the Role:
This is a seasonal position for the Findlay, OH area only.
The Snow Plow Operator plays a critical role in ensuring safe and accessible roadways during winter weather conditions by efficiently removing snow and ice from streets, parking lots, and other designated areas. This position requires operating snow plowing equipment with precision and care to minimize hazards and maintain clear pathways for vehicles and pedestrians. The operator must respond promptly to weather events, often working irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays to address snow accumulation in a timely manner. Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are essential to prevent accidents and property damage while performing snow removal tasks. Ultimately, the Snow Plow Operator contributes to community safety and mobility by maintaining clear and navigable surfaces throughout the winter season.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Experience operating heavy machinery or snow plowing equipment.
- Ability to work in outdoor winter conditions for extended periods.
- Basic mechanical skills to perform routine equipment inspections and minor maintenance.
- Strong attention to safety procedures and protocols.
- Must be able to pass background check and drug screen.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements.
- Previous experience in snow removal or winter road maintenance.
- Knowledge of local roadways and municipal snow removal routes.
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Certification in equipment operation or safety training related to snow removal.
Responsibilities:
- Operate snow plowing and ice removal equipment to clear snow and ice from roads, parking lots, sidewalks, and other designated areas.
- Monitor weather conditions and respond quickly to snow and ice accumulation to ensure timely snow removal.
- Inspect and maintain snow plowing equipment before and after use to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Follow all safety guidelines and traffic regulations while operating equipment to protect self, coworkers, and the public.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding work progress, equipment issues, and weather updates.
- Document work performed, including areas cleared and any incidents or equipment malfunctions encountered during shifts.
